Caring Team

As The Caring Team of the Highland Avenue Methodist Church, our purpose is to be aware of the needs of the congregation and the wider community.   We serve the homebound, the hospitalized, and those in assisted living residences.

We meet periodically to  pray together, and to share each other’s updates on the wellbeing of our parishioners.  Occasionally, we will hear speakers address various aspects of caring.

We send cards, make phone calls and visits; offer transportation; and occasionally, we deliver meals (chicken pot pies)!

Current members of the team are:  Sandy Batten, Heather Brown, Kay Gregory, Bev. Fernald LaPlante, Patti Martin, Pastor Ruth Merriam, Judy Meserve, Sandy Nisbet, and Patsy Tessier. If you have any questions or ideas, please talk with any of the members.

Attached below is a brochure describing the different Mission Projects the committee focusses on each month.

April Mission Project

Bridging the Gap

April’s mission project is Bridging the Gap.  Bridging the Gap is a non-profit program of Emmanuel Lutheran Episcopal Church located in Augusta. In partnership with the United Way of Kennebec Valley, one of the services they provide is the Basic Essentials Hygiene Pantry. We will be collecting shampoo, toothpaste, and toilet paper.
